Did 32 bit games have better graphics than 64 bit games?

Even though, 64 bit game consoles like the N64 and the Nintendo DS is said to have better graphics than the Game Boy Advance the colorful 2D sprites featured in 32 bit gaming is something that many people have found appealing.  When it comes down to 2D titles of any genre it had always seemed like the Game Boy Advance was more superior than the N64 or the Nintendo DS.

However, when it comes down to 3D gaming the N64 and the Nintendo DS always seemed superior in terms of quality.  When the PS1 first became popular during the mid 90’s it mainly emphasized 3D gaming despite being a 32 bit game console.    To many people the 3D graphics for many PS1 games such as Tekken, Tomb Raider and others pales in comparison to that of the N64.  In relation to 32 bit gaming 2D titles were always fun to play while same thing can be said for 3D titles on 64 bit consoles.
