Will There Ever Be a Sonic Adventure 3?

When it comes down to high profile 3D platform video games of the early 00’s there is absolutely no question that Sonic Adventure 2 is a memorable title from that particular time period. Not only was the reception for Sonic Adventure 2 generally positive but its arguably the best 3D installment within the Sonic see that Sega has ever made. There were various aspects of Sonic Adventure 2 such as visuals and gameplay that were way better than what we got in the original Sonic Adventure game that was released for the Sega Dreamcast back in 1998. Also, the introduction of Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat made Sonic Adventure 2 memorable especially since they both ended up becoming playable characters in the Dark Story Mode which also featured Dr. Eggman. The Hero Story Mode allowed players to complete various missions on different stages with Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails Prower and Knuckles the Echidna.

After defeating the Finalhazard using Super Sonic and Super Shadow towards the end of game players are left with a rewarding climax which seemed like the perfect way to end the Sonic Adventure series. Ever since ’01 the world has wondered whether or not Sega or the Sonic Team would ever develop a sequel to Sonic Adventure 2. As much as many people would love to see a Sonic Adventure 3 it would be very difficult to try and top Sonic Adventure 2. There are characters such as Shadow the Hedgehog whose popularity has dramatically declined since Sonic Adventure 2; mainly due to his panned self-titled video game from 2005. However, Sega could always add new characters or even bring back older ones if they do decide to make a Sonic Adventure 3. But as we have seen throughout the 00’s almost every 3D Sonic game that was released during that decade was not nearly as popular as as Sonic Adventure 2.

The closest that we probably got in relation to seeing great 3D Sonic games that were on par with Sonic Adventure 2 was Sonic Colors (2010) and Sonic Generations (2011). The more recent 3D Sonic titles such as Sonic: Rise of Lyric (2014) and Sonic Forces (2017) were not as successful as Colors or Generations which makes some people skeptical on whether or not Sega could actually create a worthy sequel to Sonic Adventure 2. As it currently stands there has been no plans among Sega or the Sonic Team to develop a Sonic Adventure 3 and its quite possible that it may never happen. Trying to capture the same type of magic that the world saw with Sonic Adventure 2 is something that would be very in this day and age which is why that game will always be considered a classic as far as action-adventure platformers are concerned.

The Sega Saturn becomes 24 years old in America!!!!

There is no question that the Sega Saturn was one of the most underrated game consoles of America back in the 90’s. Sometimes its hard to believe that on May 11th of 1995 the Sega Saturn had appeared in North America after it was initially released in Japan in November 1994. Despite, the fact that the Sega Saturn was a 32-bit console like Sony’s PS1 console that also came out in ’94 within Japan it was seemingly overshadowed between ’95-’98. Even though, the Saturn was not Sega’s most popular game console it still managed to reach close to ten million in sales before its was ultimately discontinued in 2000. There were titles such as Nights Into Dreams (1996), Shining Force III (1997), Panzer Dragoon Saga (1998) and others that looked like they had the potential to be more successful then they were following their respective releases.

Unfortunately, the competition in America started to become more stiff because the Sega Saturn had to compete not only with Sony’s PS1 but also against Nintendo’s N64 console which appeared in the United States in September ’96. While Sega May have fell behind both Sony and Nintendo during the mid to late 90’s in relation to the console wars the Saturn console is still one that retro gamers still like to talk about to this day. Its also possible that the Sega Saturn could have been more successful had games like Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi had appeared on the 32 bit console especially since they were considered to be big attractions for the Sega Dreamcast between ’98-’00. Either way, it’s pretty cool that the Sega Saturn has become 24 years old in America and hopefully we can get HD remakes of titles that appeared on that console during the mid 90’s.

Mortal Kombat 11 reaches No. 2 Spot in UK sales chart!!!

Ever since Mortal Kombat 11 was released in electronic retailers back in April 23th both fans and critics have generally approved of various aspects of the game. The visuals, gameplay and story mode for MK 11 exceeded the expectations of many despite the criticism revolving around Towers Of Time game mode involving its level of difficulty. Mortal Kombat 11 is a fighting title that many people in various countries such as United States and the United Kingdom has been looking forward to seeing since MK 10 which came out back in 2015. As far as popularity and success is concerned Mortal Kombat has already reached No. 2 in the UK sales chart while being surpassed by the action-adventure survival horror game Days Gone. Its hard to tell how long Mortal Kombat 11 will remain in the top ten as far as top titles in the United Kingdom is concerned.

While Mortal Kombat 11 has a long way to go before it catches up with its predecessor MK X in relation to sales it still has the potential to be named “Best Fighting Game” of ’19 by various gaming entities such as IGN, GameSpot, Game Informer and others. It would not be surprising if MK 11 remained in the UK’s top ten sales chart throughout the rest of this year especially since it replay value is high along still being considered brand new. The inclusion of DLC characters could definitely make MK 11 somewhat more of an attraction than it currently is right now; but until Netherrealm Studios official announce additional characters in the future we just have enjoy that roster that they have already given us.
