The GoldenEye movie released in 1995 was probably one of the most exciting films to hit theaters worldwide during the mid-90’s. Since its release the movie had become a box office hit made over $355 million since the mid 90’s. When GoldenEye 007 was developed by Rare and released for the N64 in 1997 the game was so popular flying off of shelves worldwide.
GoldenEye 007 is not only one of the best selling games for the Nintendo 64 but it’s probably the best stealth game to be released for that console as well. The plot of the game closely follows the movie with the main protagonists James Bond and Natalya Along with the antigonists Colonel Ourumov and and Alec Trevelyan. There were various aspects about the GoldenEye 007 that was appealing including visual display and the type of weapons that players were given.
In GoldenEye 007 players could use weapons such as the Watch Laser, Moonraker Laser, Grenade Launcher, Silver & Gold PP7, Sniper Rifle, Golden Gun along with many other items. While being a very fun title to play many people consider the 16th level in the game known as “Janus Control Center” to be the most difficult stage in GoldenEye 007. Even though, its debatable on which level is the toughest the game itself was hard to beat overall. Since its release back in 1997 GoldenEye 007 had managed to sell over 8 million units worldwide which is very impressive. In terms of classics for the N64 GoldenEye 007 is one few titles that comes to mind when we think about the best video games from the late 90’s.
