When it comes down to video games the 80’s had arguably produced some of the most difficult games that anyone could have played. For the NES we had games that seemed impossible to complete such as Street Fighter 2010, Battletoad, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ninja Gaiden and others. There were many games for the NES that were unforgiving especially since players generally had three lives to complete them.
Games like the second and third Mega Man titles for the NES were both long and unforgiving while giving players a limited amount of lives to complete the entire game. While the 8-bit era was known to have some of the most difficult games of all time games such as Super Mario 1-3 can be seen as exceptions.
NES titles such as Super Mario Bros 3 may have been difficult but for the most part it was forgiving in comparison to titles such as Street Fighter 2010. Players could at least save their progress in Super Mario Bros 3 opposed to getting to the last level and losing just to start the entire game all over. Shortly, after the 16-bit era Nintendo has reduced the difficultly of their games during the late 90’s-early 00’s. While there are still many games for Nintendo GameCube and Wii are difficult they seem easier than older NES titles.
