When Super Bomberman R was released for the Nintendo Switch back in March 2017 the game itself looked very impressive. In terms of offline content the story mode was one of the best parts of the game. The inclusion of up to 50 different levels along with high quality anime like cutscenes and coop gameplay was something players could really appreciate. Along with having cool offline content the online multiplayer mode was probably one of the defining features of Super Bomberman R. The idea of being able to have multiple players on different tablets seemed very innovative especially when it comes down to having up to eight different players on Wifi. While Super Bomberman R seems like an improvement from a few of its predecessors some would argue that the game is lacking in some areas.
When it came down to offline multiplayer modes Bomberman Generation for the Nintendo GameCube was probably one of the best games in the series. In Bomberman Generation there were so many different multiplayer modes such as: Revenge Battle, Reversi Battle, Dodge Battle, Standard Battle along with Coin Battle which contributed to the overall replay value of the game itself. Along with having more offline game modes Bomberman Generation was able to maintain a healthy balance between classic 2D and modern 3D gameplay similar to how Super Bomberman R does. While both Super Bomberman R and Bomberman Generation are both fun games to play it would be hard to choose one over the other. If Super Bomberman R had more offline multiplayer game modes similar to Bomberman Generation then the game itself would be almost perfect. Also, of Bomberman Generation was released a few years after 2002 for the Nintendo Wii with the same features along with extensive online multiplayer gameplay then the game could have easily been better than it was.
